these are high-profile venues (Lindefors & the Humanist blog) so I’m surprised there’s no response, especially since Thebee has commented on nearly every UK and US press story/ blog post /forum critical of Steiner Waldorf education.
Perhaps the Movement recognises there are people they shouldn’t take on. And now, of course, Thebee/Sune’s presence is somewhat of an international joke.
Indeed, it is surprising — the only reason that I can think of is that if he had been posting the usual array of links and crap and insinuations, he would have essentially verified the image of a cult, he would have provided evidence for Patrik Lindenfors’ statements. But this hasn’t stopped him before, so why now? Was it that the presumed audience didn’t appear to be so easily persuaded? That the people reading were mainly skeptics of waldorf education rather than potential customers? But this hasn’t stopped him before either.
Also, he has claimed the bad stuff he’s up to shouldn’t reflect on the Swedish waldorf federation (which of course it does anyway) since he’s doing it in his spare-time — why restrain himself now? Or do they actually realize it does reflect on them? If so, why don’t they do anything about it?
Do they want to be represented by an international joke — is it enough for them that he keeps a low profile for a while? Do they think this whole affair is going to blow over?
I think that may be their tactic. Or they are rabbits caught in the headlights, as you wrote before.
They are. And as incapable as ever to acknowledge their predicament (that they’re not there for the carrots, exactly), which would be the first step towards moving away from it (or the headlights). I do presume, of course, that Sune has informed them thoroughly of it. It’s his job.
I have now recieved I private mail from the Bee, with links to his earlier writings about you, Zooey. The Bee works in devious ways.
Thanks for the information! In some ways, perhaps, it was to be expected that he’d choose that venue, rather than take on the issue publically. I’ve noticed he often tries to get things ‘sorted’* behind the scenes — and yet I can’t know of but a few of these cases. *As in getting, e g, message boards to delete comments he doesn’t like instead of arguing against them. Presumably because he senses, on some level, that the latter is futile — too many people are aware of his insidious tactics, and it is always about tactics for him, not about arguments.
In addition, he’s done what he does to me to so many other people over the years — the only thing that has changed is that the waldorf movement is now directly supporting his activities.
“private mail from the Bee, with links to his earlier writings about you, Zooey” (Patrik Lindenfors) and “he often tries to get things ‘sorted’* behind the scenes” (Zooey):
It’s so very much anthro/steiner/waldorf.
Currently, I work at a community comprehensive. There are problems at the school, as there are everywhere, but, within the team (arbetslag), we teachers communicate face-to-face.
I feel MUCH better at the “less talking more doing” regular school.
Also: Sune Nordwall was (is?) preoccupied with other people’s degrees, not being able to present his own degree(s). Being preoccupied with other people in the way that Sune Nordwall demonstrates, seems to me like he is afraid of looking in the mirror.
He’s always been entirely preoccupied with the faults and failings of others — including the faults and failings he ascribes to them (keeping in mind that it’s often all in his fantasy). Nobody would be asking about his degree if he wasn’t so obsessed with others’. Nobody would ask about it if he didn’t occasionally use his supposed academic credentials to buy himself credibility. (Not very successfully, one must admit.)
As for the communication part — I totally agree. And it’s much healthier to be able to say to someone that something isn’t right or not working properly (or whatever is the case) than to try to sneak around hurdles, deceive, take advantages behind people’s backs, et c…
