confidence shattered (eventually)

February 18, 2012

A teacher has lost his job in the waldorf school in Kreuzberg, Berlin, after his foster-daughter reported him to the police for sexual abuse that supposedly happened many years earlier. So far, no students of the waldorf school have reported abuse, but there are some weird incidents in the past. Apparently, according to the news article, the teacher is to have behaved inappropriately during a school trip in 1994/95, was subsequently moved to another waldorf school in Baden-Württemberg, where new problems arouse, whereupon the teacher transfered back to the school in Berlin. His former class, the one that had participated in the school trip, refused to be taught by him again. This must have been some time around 1997, I assume. There was some kind of mediation, which seems to have failed:

The teacher stayed in the school. His musical talents were appreciated so the school wanted him to put together an ensemble. As far as I understand, he’s been working in the school since. But not anymore; the school’s confidence in him is shattered, she says, and:

Well. What can you say.
