these purple poppies (spotted some time in june) were gigantic — I didn’t even know there were poppies so enormous! They were almost bigger than mr Dog’s head, and as you all know mr Dog is a very big dog.

These are beautiful. In the bottom image I like the way the foliage is picking up a bluish light in the foreground making the pale violet poppy almost radiant. In contrast the poppy on the skyline is more purple against the yellowy foliage in the distance. That bluish light hints at autumn approaching.
Thank you! I remember that the sun went back and forth behind clouds all the time that evening, so the pictures where very different in light.
Autumn is approaching with big steps. Although actually these pics were shot in june!! This summer has been a long autumn, however. Or perhaps a spring that transformed into autumn without becoming summer first.
