Today at the Rudolf Steiner House in London:

16th December – Angela Lord – The Two Jesus Children: Where do we find evidence for them?
Artists have concealed this esoteric knowledge for many centuries but if we look carefully at the work of certain artists we see the different ways in which the Matthew Child and the Luke Child are depicted. We will explore this in the talk and look at representations from the History of Art.

How to explain this? Two Jesus children? Well, yes, it’s true. Let’s turn to Geoffrey Ahern’s excellent work — The Rudolf Steiner Movement and Gnosis in the West — for some additional information:

Steiner reveals that there are two Jesuses. Anthroposophically, the main purpose of the Hebrew people from the time of Abraham is to prepare a body that can receive the Christ. This culminates in the Jesus of St Matthew’s account. He is ascribed uniquely great wisdom and called the ‘Solomon’ Jesus. But there’s also another Jesus, the ‘Nathan’ Jesus, who is full of love: the Spirit of the Buddha Gautama fills him with compassion from the heavenly choir. This is the Jesus of St Luke’s differing account.

At the time of the discourse with the priests at the Jerusalem Tenple, the two Jesuses fuse into one, the wisdom-filled Solomon Jesus uniting with the love-filled Nathan Jesus. At this point the ‘Cosmos of Wisdom’ is preparing to turn into the ‘Cosmos of Love’: in other words, the second half of the ascending evolution of the solar system is taking over from the furst. The Solomon Jesus — other than his prepared body — and the young mother of the Nathan Jesus die. The transformed Jesus is brought up by the relatively old mother of the Solomon Jesus.

  1. But the other child was also Jesus, the Jesus of Matthew. Thus, there must be two Jesuses? (Not in the same stable, obviously. They had different parents — parents who in both cases were named Mary and Josef (Joseph? or whatever it is in english).) And ‘one’ Christ.

  2. You are right, no stable is mentioned in the Matthew story. it says the star stood over the house where he was born.
    I hope you leave some gröt out at night for the tomte who lives under your sink in the kitchen!

  3. Oh dear! Now I get a bad conscience! I don’t even know how to cook gröt. I’ll have to give him nuts and knäckebröd. He just takes whatever he likes from my kitchen anyway. He and the gnomes. They eat my food. I’m convinced of it. It disappears mysteriously…
