wielding the sorcerer’s wand against technology

One thing before I fall asleep. From Facebook.

What’s wrong (and right, if anything) with this thinking about fascination and fear? Why do fascination and fear makes us more unfree than other emotions? (If that is the case?) Why is it wrong to be provoked into fascination? I would have thought that was basically something good. Fascination makes us want to know more, learn more, find things out. As for fear, rather than an unhealthy response, it may actually be entirely appropriate given the circumstances. Sometimes, it would seem more troubling if a person didn’t feel fear than if he did. I’m not sure why this would be any different with technology and its uses than in any other area of life.
